links for thought, October 2011 (lazy miserable pregnant lady edition)

Too wiped out for excerpts, people: you’ll just have to trust me and click through. They’re great, so do.

at An Honest Mom, “On Female Characters in Children’s Books” and “On Girls, Women and Dads in Picture Books

at The Pursuit of Harpyness (from Anna J. Cook), “What’s Missing from Sex Education?

at Public Health Doula, “Another Screed on Breastfeeding & Guilt–This Time with Cussing!

at Blue Milk, “Breastfeeding or Bottle-Feeding, This Sucks” and “A Word about Breastfeeding Nazis

from Gloria Lemay, “After the Birth What a Family Needs” (This is from October 2008, but I just came across it somehow and like it a lot. Of course, it of assumes you have family/friends in town, which does not apply to everyone … like, say, to us. Alas.)

Thanks for the link! I love the links to Blue Milk and I have no idea why I haven’t added her to my Reader any sooner given all the great things that she’s written.

I hope you feel better very very soon!!! BTW, the fact that you continue to post at all in the midst of what sounds like total horrendousness puts me to shame in the middle of a laziness-induced posting hiatus…every time you post I think “Man, and I’m feeling perfectly healthy and can’t even get a post done!” So go you :-)
