We’re wrapping presents, stuffing stockings, and getting ready to go out for a bunch of Indian food tonight. Tamales, refried beans, Spanish rice, and sticky toffee pudding tomorrow (we’re having Vietnamese noodle salad for lunch, but that’s just lunch, not a tradition)–our holidays involve a lot of cooking and then doing dishes. And of course there’s eggnog with whiskey in it, gin fizzes, and cava. Espresso, coffee, and tea. There are a couple containers of Eric’s family’s traditional carrot cookies in the kitchen, a string of lights over our living room windows, and a very excited seven-year-old about. My mom’s visiting for the first time in seven months and delighted to see our children. Eric and I are tired–we’re always so, so tired–but glad the semester’s over and glad to be together.
I hope all you Christmas-celebrators have a great evening and a great day tomorrow, and that any children you may have don’t get so whipped up that your head explodes.
