two years of First the Egg

Two years ago yesterday, I transitioned from my old URL on Blogger to this space, with a new title and a stronger sense of what I wanted to do online. I’ve written over 230 posts here and met a lot of wonderful folks through their comments and links to their own online spaces.

Here’s a graphic representations of what I’ve been talking about all this time:

Thanks for reading! I like being here, talking with all of you.

Happy blogaversary! I’ve been going through my drafts folder deciding what to keep working on/publish and what to give up on and I have one that starts with something like “Feminist Childbirth Studies has a new name…” Who knew I’d been sitting on it for TWO YEARS now?! It was a collection of links about birth and feminism that needs some connecting ideas before I can publish it.

  • Welcome to First the Egg, a collection of practical information, links, and cultural criticism. This site is a feminist intervention in our rigidly-gendered culture of childbirth and parenting. It aims to provide a nonsexist space for people who want to learn, reflect, commiserate, or laugh about being pregnant, giving birth, and helping children grow up whole and happy.
